Unusual Meeting, Unusual Place
A Debating Forum of Family Companies was held on May 28, 2015 in Jasin near Poznań. The meeting gathered over 50 representatives of family businesses from across the region of Wielkopolska. The participants could listen to talks, among others by Dr. Adrianna Lewandowska, President of the Family Business Institute, Małgorzata Małecka from PwC, Dr. Herwig Friedag, a special guest from Berlin, and Dariusz Stasik, President of WPIP, the host of the venue of the meeting, i.e. the Smart Building.
The speakers included also our team members: Maria Urbanek and President of CMT Advisory Piotr Stobiecki. Their talks focused on family business finances and on the perspective adopted by finance institutions towards family businesses. Other topics raised included opportunities for obtaining financing as well as opportunities and threats of using non-family capital in family business management. The presentation integrated as its background the Polish transaction market and the status of family companies in it.
The other talks addressed the questions of succession in family businesses and responsibility, as well as future challenges and opportunities, use of innovative solutions and their impact on the success rate, as well as the importance of dialogue and communication in family business management.
The Forum provided an excellent opportunity for an exchange of experience, debates and sharing knowledge on management and challenges posed by family companies to their owners.
Furthermore, the participants had the unique chance to visit one of the most state-of-the-art buildings in Poland, the SMART BUILDING, the only one to make use of zero technology. The visitors were able to experience first-hand how innovative technology and the introduction of even the tiniest changes in everyday operations lead to energy savings.
